The young woman stood there, trembling.

Her husband rose from the bed, pale.

She whispered,
“What were you pretending?”

His mother stepped forward fast.
“Go back to bed.”

But he stopped her.

“No, Mom. She deserves the truth.”

The young woman’s lips shook.
“What truth?”

He looked at her like he was about to lose everything.

Then he opened the bedside drawer and pulled out a small hospital bracelet.

Her name was on it.

The date was from three years ago.

She stared at it, confused and terrified.

He whispered,
“You didn’t just survive the accident…”

His mother’s eyes filled with fear.
