The teacher’s face changed before she said a word.

The bully’s smile disappeared as every student stared at the two extra inhalers in his hand.

The poor girl dropped beside the boy, crying as the teacher pressed his inhaler into his shaking fingers.

“Breathe,” she whispered. “You’re safe.”

The boy took one desperate breath.

Then another.

His eyes filled with tears as air finally reached him.

The teacher turned back to the bully.

“How many times?”

He looked down.

No answer.

The girl wiped her face with her sleeve.

“Every week,” she said. “He takes them and makes them pay to get them back.”

A quiet shock moved through the hallway.

One smaller student stepped forward, trembling.

“That blue one is mine.”

Another child began to cry.

The bully’s face went pale.

The teacher looked at the stolen inhalers, then at the boy still shaking on the floor.

“You didn’t steal toys,” she said, her voice breaking with anger. “You stole breath.”

The principal appeared at the end of the hallway just as the bully tried to step back.

But there was nowhere to go.

Every student had seen the truth.

And this time, nobody laughed.
