🎬 PART 2: «The Baby They Tried to Erase»

The maid stared at her.

“My mother was who?”

The older woman could barely speak.

“Anya Romanova.”

The maid shook her head.

“No. My mother was nobody. I’m nobody.”

The older woman’s eyes filled with tears.

“That is what they wanted you to believe.”

She slowly reached into a drawer and pulled out an old velvet pouch. Inside was the second blue gemstone ring, identical to the one on the maid’s finger.

The maid stepped back, terrified.

“Why do you have that?”

The older woman’s voice broke.

“Because I served your mother.”

The room seemed to shrink around them.

“She was not just an archduchess,” the woman whispered. “She was kind. She fed servants before guests. She carried your newborn blanket herself because she didn’t trust anyone else.”

The maid touched the ring with shaking fingers.

“What happened to her?”

The older woman closed her eyes.

“They came for the child.”

The maid stopped breathing.

“For me?”

The older woman nodded.

“Your mother put this ring on your tiny finger and made me promise one thing.”

Tears ran down her face now.

“She said, ‘If my daughter survives, never let them make her feel small.’”

The maid looked down at her black-and-white uniform.

“But I worked here. You watched people order me around.”

The words hit like punishment.

The older woman covered her mouth.

“I didn’t know it was you.”

The maid’s voice cracked.

“You didn’t have to know I was royal to treat me like a person.”

The older woman broke completely.

“You’re right.”

For a long moment, neither of them moved.

Then the maid whispered, “Is my mother alive?”

The older woman looked toward the locked cabinet across the room.

Inside, behind glass, was a sealed letter with the same royal crest.

“She left one message,” she said. “For the daughter who came back wearing the blue stone.”

The maid’s hand trembled over the ring.

And for the first time in her life, she understood why the woman who raised her always said, “Never sell it. That ring knows your name.”
