Part 2 The rich woman blinked in confusion. “Doctor?”

The older man walked straight to the pregnant woman, his eyes filled with emotion.

“Yes,” he said softly. “The same doctor who told you six months ago that you’d never walk out of that hospital alone.”

The pregnant woman covered her mouth and began crying harder.

The customers lowered their phones slightly, listening.

The doctor turned to the crowd.

“She came into my hospital with no family, no money, and a dangerous pregnancy. She refused to give up on her baby even when everyone else gave up on her.”

Then he looked at the rich woman.

“And this morning, after her final checkup, I brought her here to give her something beautiful before her child is born.”

The rich woman’s face tightened. “You bought a diamond ring for a patient?”

The doctor’s jaw clenched.

“No,” he said. “I bought it for my daughter.”

The boutique exploded in whispers.

The pregnant woman stared at him in disbelief.

He swallowed hard, tears in his eyes.

“I only found out the truth last week.”

The rich woman stepped backward.

But then the pregnant woman whispered something that made the doctor freeze:

“If you’re really my father… then why did my mother die believing you abandoned us?”
