Part 2: The man’s hands shook as he stared at the birth certificate.

His name was not written there by accident.
The date was not possible by accident.
And the child’s age matched the exact year Veronica had told him Elena had “run away with another man.”

“Elena…” he whispered. “Why does this child have my family name?”

The gas station fell silent.

Elena, humiliated and trembling, pulled her son closer and said through tears:

“Because he is your son. I tried to tell you years ago. But she found me before I could.”

Veronica’s voice cracked as she shouted, “She’s lying!”

But Elena looked straight at the man and said:

“The money she gave me wasn’t to help me disappear. It was to make sure you never found us.”

The boy clung to Elena’s coat, crying, while the man slowly knelt in front of him.

Then he noticed something else.

A small birthmark near the child’s neck.

The exact same one he had.

Now people were no longer filming for entertainment.
They were staring in shock.

Veronica backed away, panicking.

“You don’t understand—” she began.

But the man stood up and cut her off coldly:

“Oh, I understand perfectly. You stole years of my son’s life.”

Elena broke down crying.
The little boy looked up at him and whispered:

“Are you my dad?”

The man’s eyes filled with tears.

And Veronica realized, right there between the gas pumps and the cameras, that the truth she had buried for years had just destroyed her perfect life in public.
