🎬 PART 2։ «The Secret Behind the Sunglasses»

The father’s face went pale.

He looked down at his daughter. “Sweetheart… what is he talking about?”

The little girl didn’t answer.

Her grip on the cane tightened until her knuckles turned white.

The scruffy boy swallowed hard. “I sleep behind the old garage near your house. I see things.”

The father turned back to him slowly. “What things?”

The boy’s voice got smaller. “Your wife gets angry when you leave. She tells your daughter not to look at you. She says if she keeps pretending, you’ll feel guilty and stay home forever.”

The father looked like the words were cutting him open.

“That’s a lie,” he whispered.

The boy shook his head. “No.”

Then he reached into his torn pocket and pulled out a small pair of child’s sunglasses, cracked at one corner.

“She threw these away last night,” he said. “Your daughter was crying.”

The little girl’s breathing broke.

The father crouched in front of her, his voice shaking now. “Can you see me?”

For a long moment, she didn’t move.

Then, slowly, she took off her sunglasses.

Her eyes were wet.

Focused.

Terrified.

“Daddy,” she whispered.

The father stopped breathing.

He touched her face with shaking hands. “You can see?”

She nodded once, tears spilling down her cheeks. “I didn’t want you to leave again.”

His whole face collapsed.

Behind them, a woman’s voice suddenly cut through the quiet street.

“What is going on?”

The father turned.

His wife stood on the sidewalk a few steps away, frozen, her smile already dying.

The scruffy boy looked at her and said softly, “I told him.”

And for the first time, the little girl stepped out from behind her father and pointed straight at the woman.

“She made me lie.”
