A confident silver-haired woman in black lace…
and a much younger man with the body of an athlete.
People in the hallway whispered.
“Did you see that?”
“She could be his mother…”
But inside the room, the atmosphere was completely different.
The warm lamp light filled the space.
The woman slowly sat on his lap, placing her hand on his chest as if she owned the moment.
The young man looked confused.
“You’re acting like you already know me,” he said.
The woman smiled faintly.
“Oh… I do.”
He laughed nervously.
“That’s impossible.”
She leaned closer and whispered:
“I’ve known about you for twenty-three years.”
The young man froze.
“What are you talking about?”
The woman slowly opened her purse and pulled out an old photograph.
She placed it in his hand.
The moment he saw the photo, his entire face changed.
Because in the picture…
his father was standing next to her.
The same woman.
Twenty years younger.
He looked up in shock.
“Who are you?”
The woman looked straight into his eyes and said quietly:
“I’m the woman your father ruined his life for.”
Part 2 in the comments…
The young man jumped to his feet.
“That’s impossible,” he said.
“My parents were married for thirty years.”
The woman shook her head slowly.
“No… your mother only knows half of the story.”
She walked to the window and continued:
“Twenty-three years ago your father promised to leave his family for me.”
The young man’s hands started shaking.
“But the night I told him something important… he disappeared.”
“What important thing?” he asked quietly.
The woman turned around.
Her eyes filled with a strange sadness.
“I told him I was pregnant.”
The young man’s heart started pounding.
“Then what happened?”
She stepped closer and looked directly at him.
“What happened… is that he ran away.”
Silence filled the room.
The young man whispered:
“So… what does that have to do with me?”
The woman took a deep breath.
Then said the sentence that made his blood run cold:
“Because the child I was carrying… was supposed to be your brother.”
