At the top was the logo of Calder International — Richard’s billion-dollar corporation.
Below it was the list of shareholders.
For years Richard Calder had been known as the majority owner.
But the document on the screen showed something different.
Three months earlier, a private investment group had quietly purchased controlling shares of the company.
51%.
More than enough to take full control.
The name of the investor slowly appeared on the screen.
It was the maid’s name.
The entire ballroom erupted with shocked voices.
“That’s impossible,” one of the executives shouted.
Richard’s legal advisor stepped forward calmly.
“It’s completely legal,” he said.
“The acquisition was finalized ninety days ago.”
Vanessa shook her head in disbelief.
“You’re telling me she owns the company?”
Richard smiled faintly.
“No.”
Then he looked at the woman beside him.
“She owns all of us.”
The room went completely silent.
The maid slowly looked around the ballroom.
“I wanted to meet everyone first,” she said quietly.
“To see how people treat someone they think is beneath them.”
Several executives suddenly avoided eye contact.
Because in that moment they realized something terrifying.
The woman they had ignored all evening…
was now their boss.
And starting tomorrow morning…
every single one of them would be reporting to her.
