Part 2: For one second, the entire bank felt like it stopped breathing.

The teller read the note again.

Then again.

“If my grandson comes alone, call the police. It means I was killed.”

His hands started shaking.

The little boy stood quietly on the other side of the counter, too young to understand why every adult around him had suddenly gone pale.

The police officer stepped forward.

“What is it?” he asked.

The teller turned the screen toward him without a word.

The officer’s expression changed instantly.

He looked down at the boy.

“Where is your grandmother?” he asked gently.

The child lowered his eyes to the brown envelope.

“She went to sleep three days ago,” he whispered. “The man in her house said she died before she could tell me the password. He told me to bring this card here and ask how much she left.”

The officer’s jaw tightened.

“What man?”

The boy opened the envelope with trembling hands and pulled out a photograph.

In it, he stood beside his grandmother — smiling, alive, holding him close.

Behind them, half-visible in a mirror, was a man watching from the doorway.

The teller leaned closer.

So did the officer.

Both men went cold.

Because the face in the reflection was not a stranger.

It was one of the bank’s own senior managers.

The same man who handled dormant estates and inheritance transfers.

The officer reached for his radio.

But the little boy tugged on his sleeve first and asked the question no one in the bank was ready to hear.

“Did Grandma know he would hurt her?”

The teller’s eyes filled as he scrolled further down the trust file.

There was more.

A scheduled video message.
Time-locked.
Prepared by the grandmother.
Set to open only if the child came in alone.

He clicked it.

The screen lit up.

The old woman appeared, weak but composed, looking straight into the camera.

“If you are watching this,” she said, “then the man I trusted has already tried to steal everything… including my grandson’s life.”

The whole bank went silent.

Then she said the words that made the officer grab the boy and pull him back from the counter immediately:

“The thief is not working alone. The person beside him… is wearing a badge.”
