🎬 Part 2: What Emma Knew

“Emma, wait—”

But it was too late.

The whole courtroom had already seen his face on the screen.

No denial could erase it now.

The judge’s expression turned cold and sharp. Emma’s mother stood completely still, one hand over her mouth, tears already beginning to form as she looked from the screen to the man in the brown suit.

“You lied to me,” she whispered.

The man opened his mouth, desperate, but no words came out fast enough.

The bearded man beside her took one stunned step back, staring at him with a kind of betrayal that made the room feel even smaller.

Emma was crying now, but she stayed where she was.

She looked at her mother, not the man.

“I found it on his tablet,” she said through a shaking breath. “I didn’t want to show you… but he kept saying you were wrong about everything.”

The courtroom fell even deeper into silence.

The judge slowly turned toward the man in the brown suit.

“Do you understand,” the judge said, voice low and dangerous, “what exactly this means?”

He looked like he might collapse.

Emma’s mother shook her head once, tears slipping down as the truth settled heavier and heavier over her face.

But then Emma spoke again.

Small voice.

Breaking voice.

The kind that hurts more because it’s so small.

“Mom…” she said, looking at her with wet eyes, “that’s not the worst part.”

Every person in the courtroom froze.

Even the judge.

Even the man in the brown suit.

Emma’s tiny fingers tightened around the edge of the tablet.

Her lips trembled.

She turned the screen slightly toward the judge again, showing there was more.

More than the kiss.

More than betrayal.

The judge’s face changed.

Not just stern anymore.

Alarmed.

The mother saw that and stopped breathing for a beat.

“What else is on there?” she whispered.

Emma looked up at her mother, crying openly now.

Then she looked at the man in the brown suit.

And in a voice barely above a whisper, she said:

“He was talking about me.”
