🎬 PART 2: «The Woman She Thought She Could Fire»

The rooftop went silent.

The older woman stared at the phone like it had become a weapon.

“What store?” she whispered.

The younger woman slowly stood, still holding the little boy’s hand.

“The one with your name on the windows.”

The older woman’s face went pale.

“You can’t shut down my store.”

The younger woman wiped one tear from her cheek.

“I can. I own the building.”

The guests froze.

The boy looked up at her, still frightened.

The older woman stepped back, trying to laugh.

“You’re lying.”

The younger woman turned the phone screen toward her.

The call was still active.

A man’s voice came through softly.

“The locks are being changed now, ma’am.”

The older woman’s mouth fell open.

The younger woman looked down at the child.

“He spilled juice on your dress,” she said quietly. “That was all.”

The older woman swallowed.

“He ruined the event.”

“No,” the younger woman said. “You did.”

The boy clung to her hand harder.

The older woman looked around, desperate for someone to defend her, but the same guests who had watched her cruelty now looked away.

The younger woman’s voice shook, but only because she was done being small.

“My son has heard enough people tell us where we don’t belong.”

The older woman’s eyes widened.

“Your son?”

“Yes,” she said. “The child you called a problem.”

She stepped closer.

“And the woman you fired…”

Her voice dropped.

“…is the investor who saved your company last year.”

The older woman grabbed the table to steady herself.

The younger woman looked toward the skyline, then back at her.

“I came tonight to see if you deserved a second chance.”

The boy whispered, “Mom… can we go?”

She looked at him, her anger softening into pain.

“Yes, baby.”

Then she turned once more to the woman in gold.

“You didn’t lose your store because you insulted me.”

The older woman trembled.

“You lost it because you made my child feel unwanted in a room I paid for.”
