🎬 PART 2: «The Child She Chose Over Everything»

The younger woman looked down at the boy in her arms.

For the first time that night, her face softened.

“Yes,” she whispered. “You’re safe.”

The older woman’s mouth opened, but nothing came out.

Around them, guests who had laughed with her minutes earlier now looked away, embarrassed by how quickly power had changed hands.

“This is impossible,” the older woman said.

The younger woman slowly stood, lifting the boy with her.

“My father built this company,” she said. “You were trusted to host tonight’s private sale. Not humiliate children. Not threaten mothers. Not treat people like decorations you can remove.”

The older woman’s cheeks flushed.

“He was running around the jewelry cases.”

“He was looking for me,” the younger woman replied. “Because your assistant told him I didn’t belong upstairs.”

The boy tightened his arms around her neck.

“I got scared,” he whispered.

The younger woman kissed his temple.

“I know.”

Then she turned back to the older woman.

“You didn’t just insult me tonight,” she said quietly. “You showed every investor here exactly what kind of woman I almost let represent my family’s name.”

A security guard appeared near the terrace doors.

No drama.

No shouting.

Just the quiet end of someone’s power.

The older woman looked around, waiting for one person to defend her.

No one did.

The younger woman held the boy closer.

“You can leave without the jewelry,” she said. “And without your position.”

The older woman walked away under the gold lights, smaller with every step.

The boy looked at the woman holding him.

“You cried.”

She smiled through the last of her tears.

“I did.”

“Were you scared?”

She nodded.

“Very.”

He rested his head against her shoulder.

“But you still stayed.”

She closed her eyes and held him tighter.

“Always.”
